I read this book . It has two main story but I was only really interested in one. It is about a pastor and his church. I am not going to give too much a spoiler but I do want to write about the story that impacted me. There was an elderly gentlemen who was the maintence worker at the church. It was a mega church where most of the church members were wealthy. The elderly man committed suicide.
He left a letter for the pastor stating "Pastor Steven, I want to thank you for all you've done for me. I'm sorry for doing this. I know I'm letting you down. I've tried to hold on, but I just can't stand the loneliness anymore. I know Jesus will forgive me. I'm tired and I want to go to be with him. Love, Otis
Wow, that really hit me to the core. You can be surrounded by so many and still be lonely. People have lost the art of connecting with each other. Caring and compassionate has gone out the window. We prefer to throw people under the bus or watch them jump off the cliff. We are just too busy to stop and help a human being.
You know if you give someone a smile, a hug or just stop and talk to them. Listen to them and encourage them. It can change the outcome of their lives.
WORDS OF WISDOM: Don't just stop and smell the roses. Stop and Listen
